How Yarn & Spindle Guild Began

Our journey began in 2019, born from a shared vision.

In 2019, a group of dedicated fiber artists, long captivated by the meditative rhythm and endless possibilities of knitting, recognized a growing need in Austin. While the city thrived with creativity, a comprehensive, community-focused hub for knitting education was missing. We envisioned a place where traditional techniques were honored, innovation was celebrated, and knitters of all levels felt truly supported.

What started as small, informal meetups quickly blossomed into the Yarn & Spindle Guild. From our humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a vibrant educational center, committed to preserving the rich heritage of fiber arts while embracing modern approaches. Our goal remains unwavering: to foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where both hobbyists and aspiring professional fiber artists can learn, connect, and grow.
